How to find out which groups a person is subscribed to on VKontakte

What you can view in a VKontakte profile

VKontakte shows the communities a user is a member of or subscribed to in a separate section of their profile. In different versions of the site and app, it may be called "Groups", "Communities", or "Subscriptions". The name and location of the block sometimes change after an interface update.

Usually, the open list displays public pages and groups that are allowed by privacy settings. If the profile owner has limited the visibility of communities, you won't be able to view the full list. There's no way around this restriction through regular VKontakte features.

How to view groups from a computer

Open the VKontakte website in your browser and go to the page of the user you need. You can find the profile through the search bar, friends list, or messages.

1. Open the person's profile.
2. Find the block with basic information and click "Show detailed information" if it's collapsed.
3. Go to the "Groups", "Communities", or "Subscriptions" section.
4. Click on the block you need to open the full list of available communities.

If the section is below the basic information, scroll down the page. In some interface versions, it's displayed next to photos, friends, or followers. Click on the community name to open its page and check whether the profile actually appears among the members or subscribers.

How to find a person's subscriptions in the app

In the mobile app, the steps are similar, but the block you need may be hidden in the detailed profile information.

1. Open the VKontakte app and find the user through search.
2. Go to their profile.
3. Tap "More", "Show detailed information", or a similar button.
4. Open the "Communities", "Groups", or "Subscriptions" section.

On a phone, some blocks may not display right away. If you only see a few communities, look for a button like "Show all". If necessary, update the app: the names of the items depend on the version and operating system.

Why the list of groups isn't displayed

The absence of a section doesn't always mean the person isn't a member of any community. There are several possible reasons:

• the user has hidden the list of groups with privacy settings;
• viewing is allowed only to friends, and you're not in that circle;
• the community was deleted, renamed, or became unavailable;
• the profile is blocked, closed, or restricts access to detailed information;
• in the mobile version, the block you need is inside the additional information section.

Closed communities may also not display fully. A group page may only open to members, and membership data may be hidden. If you and the user have common communities, VKontakte sometimes shows them separately, but such a list doesn't replace the full list of subscriptions.

Don't enter your password, a code from a message, or session data on sites that promise to show hidden groups. Such methods don't reveal closed information through official VKontakte features and can lead to losing access to your account.
