TV Stars on Twitch
Not long ago, Twitch was associated exclusively with gamers and zoomers who spent hours playing CS or Dota. Today, on the platform, you can find 65-year-old TV presenter Dmitry Dibrov, who reads classics and discusses female infidelity, and "Univer" star Andrey Gaidulyan, building a PC for streams based on Evelone's advice. These two names have made many look at streaming differently — from a geeky hobby, it's turning into a media platform, attracting even those who were recently captive to the "blue screen." Why are TV stars increasingly moving to streaming? We explore this in this article.
Part 1. Andrey Gaidulyan: "Univer" Moves to Twitch
How the Actor Came to the Platform
Andrey Gaidulyan, known to millions of viewers for his role as Misha in the series "Univer" and "SashaTanya," is one of the brightest examples of an "adult" star who has mastered Twitch. His appearance on the platform began in December 2025, when popular streamer Vadim "Evelone" Kozakov left a comment under his TikTok with an offer to start streaming.
"Create your Twitch, we'll support you," Evelone wrote. Gaidulyan liked the comment, and soon the offer turned into real action. On December 24, 2025, the actor created an account with the nickname Andrey_gaidulean, and within a few hours, 15,000 people subscribed to him.
Preparing for Streams: PC, Webcam, and Pro Advice
Gaidulyan approached the new venture with all seriousness. In January 2026, he announced that he had assembled a computer for streams, but with his characteristic humor, he emphasized that he did not do it based on subscribers' advice.
"Thank you for your advice, which you gave. I didn't use them. Professionals assembled it for me," the actor stated. The only thing he lacked was a webcam, and he publicly asked subscribers to find out from Evelone which model he uses.
First Stream and First Success
Gaidulyan's first stream on Twitch took place on February 11, 2026. Live, with Evelone, he discussed the peculiarities of interacting with the platform, answered viewers' questions, and simply chatted. The broadcast instantly gathered over 30,000 viewers.
For comparison: some top streamers take years to reach such an online audience. The actor only needed one broadcast and the right "warm-up" of the audience through social networks and collaborations with established Twitch stars.
Part 2. Dmitry Dibrov: "Anthropology" on Steroids
Why a TV Host Needs Streaming
Dmitry Dibrov is an even more unexpected character on Twitch than Gaidulyan. The 65-year-old TV presenter, known for his program "Anthropology" and long career in television, began streaming in July 2025.
According to the Telegram channel SHOT, the main motivation was practical: additional earnings. At the same time, unlike many older colleagues, Dibrov quickly mastered the technical side: he learned how to turn on the webcam and set up the donation system.
What He Shows on Streams
In his broadcasts, Dibrov remains true to himself. He reads excerpts from classical literature, plays appropriate music, and engages in philosophical reflections. But there are things he couldn't afford on television.
One of his first broadcasts was dedicated to the acute topic of "female infidelity" — Dibrov read out classics' statements on the matter and discussed them with viewers.
The highlight of another broadcast was the sudden appearance of his wife, with whom he is rumored to be in the process of divorce. Polina approached her husband, inquired about his affairs, and offered tea, causing a storm of discussion online.
For the first broadcasts, Dibrov earned about 30,000 rubles and gained 1,500 subscribers. Modest by top streamers' standards, but impressive for a 65-year-old newcomer.
Shock Value as Part of the Strategy
Dibrov is not shy about provocations. In one stream, he stated that he dreams of playing a love scene with Scarlett Johansson, as she seems to him to resemble a native of Rostov.
On television, such statements would be unthinkable. On Twitch, they are part of the image. Dibrov quickly realized that on this platform, sincerity and shock value are valued, not polished phrases from a script.
Part 3. Why TV Stars Are Moving to Streaming
If we move beyond specific examples and look at the trend as a whole, we can identify several reasons why famous actors and TV presenters are increasingly mastering Twitch.
Reason 1. Television is Losing Power
Television is indeed ceasing to be the main shaper of public opinion. People are tired of the flood of alarming headlines, monotonous reports, and endless "breaking news."
Classic TV channels are becoming one of many sources within a more complex ecosystem of information consumption. The viewer is no longer tied to the broadcast schedule: he chooses what to watch, and this choice increasingly falls on streaming.
Reason 2. Streamers Are the New TV Hosts
If before the main figures were TV hosts, political commentators, and experts in the studio, now this role is taken on by streamers and video bloggers. They are not obliged to adhere to the broadcast format, balance of opinions, and strict editorial policy of the channel, but they know how to speak the language of their audience and react directly to comments.
For TV stars, this means they no longer have to adapt to the format, but can create their own.
Reason 3. Content Control and Direct Monetization
On television, an actor or host receives a fee for filming and, as a rule, has no direct contact with the viewer and does not receive money directly from him. On Twitch, it's completely different.
A streamer earns from donations, subscriptions, and advertising integrations. The viewer transfers money directly to their favorite author, and this "star – fan" contact becomes financial. Dibrov, by his own admission, started streaming precisely for additional income.
