Dzen: How to Design Previews and Boost CTR

Dzen: How to Design Previews and Boost CTR

In the feed, the decision to open an article or scroll past is made in seconds. First, the eye catches the image, then the short phrase next to it. If the Dzen article cover looks blurry, cuts off a face, contradicts the headline, or promises something that isn't in the text, even strong material won't get a chance. Below is a working system for authors: dimensions and safe zones, composition, text on the image, connection with the headline, comparison of preview formats, risks, safe practices, and how to carefully boost reach when the packaging is already done correctly.

Why Card CTR is Important for Authors

CTR in the feed is the percentage of people who, after seeing the card, clicked into the publication. A click itself doesn't equal a read-through, subscription, or application. But without a click, the funnel doesn't start. A weak preview cuts off the flow at the entrance. A strong one doesn't have to scream and deceive: its task is to explain the topic in a fraction of a second and filter out casual readers who don't need the material.

For the author, this has a practical effect. Fewer empty visits, a higher chance that a person will reach the middle and the block with useful information. Dzen article design includes the headline, lead, paragraph structure, subheadings, and illustrations within the text, but it's the cover that competes in the feed with dozens of other cards on one screen. Therefore, working on the preview is not decoration, but part of distribution.

It's important to separate two tasks. The first is to make the card clear and honest. The second is, after publication, to enhance the visibility of already high-quality material if necessary. Confusing them is dangerous: a beautiful picture won't save weak text, and external views won't fix a low CTR if people don't want to click on the card.

How the Card is Structured and the Role of the Dzen Article Cover

A card usually consists of a headline, an image, and short context. If a preview is not set separately, the system may pull the first image from the text. Hence the classic mistake: a beautiful but "non-card" shot with small details is placed in the article, which turn into a mess in miniature.

Different display proportions are encountered in the feed. In practice, it's convenient to prepare a 16:9 frame and keep the meaning in the central zone closer to 4:3, so that faces, numbers, and the key object are not lost when cropped. This way, you are less dependent on how the interface crops the edges on a phone or in a selection.

A click is a signal of interest. But if a person leaves immediately after entering, the proportion of short visits increases, and subsequent impressions may shrink. Therefore, a clickable Dzen cover must match the content: if a seven-point checklist was promised, there should be seven points inside, not general lyrical prose.

Dzen Cover Size and Technical Constraints

Proportion guideline: 16:9, for example 1920×1080 or 1280×720. Place important elements – face, product, diagram, short text – closer to the center, with a margin from the edges. This protects you from cropping in different interface areas.

File requirements are usually lenient: common formats like JPEG or PNG, sufficient resolution, without extreme weight that loads slowly on mobile. Better slightly lighter and sharper than a heavy file with noise and small font. Before publishing, view the Dzen article preview in the editor interface and, if possible, on your phone: the mobile feed provides the majority of interactions.

If you are preparing a series of materials, fix a template: indents, one or two fonts, space for a short topic label. A consistent channel style increases recognition, but each Dzen cover should still differ in the meaning of the frame – otherwise, the feed merges into one background.

Composition: What Increases Visibility in the Feed

One main object. In miniature, clarity wins. A close-up face, a whole object, before and after in two halves, a simple three-block diagram – these are working patterns. A collage of six small photos almost always loses.

Contrast and background. Text and object must be readable. A light object on a light background dissolves in the feed. Sometimes it's enough to darken the edge or add a light substrate under the words, without turning the frame into neon.

Emotion and gaze. People react faster to faces and clear emotional signals: concentration, surprise, calm expertise. For educational topics, a neutral confident tone is appropriate; for error analysis, an emphasis on the problem in the frame without repulsive details.

Numbers and benefit markers. If the material is about a step-by-step analysis, phrases like "5 steps," "before and after," "template" are appropriate on the frame. The number must match the text. Deception for the sake of a click harms read-throughs and channel trust.

Color. One dominant accent plus a neutral color works better than a rainbow. Keep the channel's brand color, but don't paint the entire field with it – otherwise, the cards will become identical.

Text on Preview: How Many Words and What Font

In short: two to five words or one number with clarification. A long quote from a picture is not readable in the feed. Font – sans-serif without thin serifs, high contrast. Do not use the entire set of decorative typefaces at once.

Do not duplicate the headline word for word if it is already visible on the card: it's better to reinforce the angle. A headline about checking read-throughs – on the frame "3 metrics" or "not just CTR." This way, the image and headline work together.

Avoid all-caps, a flurry of exclamation marks, and sensationalism for noise. How to increase CTR in Dzen without risking worsening recommendations – through clarity and utility, not through frightening tricks.

Headline and Image Connection

Check three questions before publishing. Is the topic clear without reading the text? Does the image's promise match the first screen of the article? Will the reader feel awkward a minute later for clicking?
