How to Repost a Post on VK

To repost a post, open the publication, click "Share," and select "On your page." In the web version, this button is usually located below the post's text and attachments: next to the reactions, comments, and views. On a narrow screen, an arrow icon may be displayed instead of the label.

After you select how to publish, a window with a comment field will open. Leave it empty if you want to post only the original entry, or add your own text. Finish with the "Publish" button.

How to Repost a Post to Your Page from a Computer

1. Open the VK website and go to the post you need in your feed, profile, or community.
2. Under the publication, find the "Share" button with an arrow icon and click it.
3. In the menu, select "On your page."
4. In the post creation window, write a comment for the repost if needed.
5. Check that your page is specified as the posting location, and click "Publish."

If there is no "Share" label under the post, click the three-dot button in the upper right corner of the publication. In the additional menu, select "Share" or "Copy link." If only the second option is available, the author or privacy settings may be blocking the standard repost.

In the VK app, open the original publication and find the row of actions below it. Tap the arrow icon or the "Share" label, then select "On your page."

How to Add a Comment to a Repost

The comment is entered in the window that appears after selecting "On your page." It will be published above the original entry and separated from its text. This is convenient if you need to give your subscribers context, indicate the source, or explain why the material matters to your audience.

If needed, mention a user with "@" or add a hashtag. Don't copy the entire original post into the comment: with a regular repost, the text, images, and link to the author are already pulled in automatically. After publishing, the comment on the repost can be edited or deleted separately from the original.

How to Quickly Save a Post to Bookmarks or Schedule It

To avoid publishing the entry right away, open the "Share" menu and select "Save to bookmarks." In some versions of VK, this option is called "To bookmarks." You can find the saved material in the "Bookmarks" section of your profile. This is not a repost: the entry won't appear on your wall and won't be shown to subscribers.

For delayed publishing, select "On your page," write a comment, and find the button or calendar icon next to "Publish" in the post creation window. Choose the date and time, then click "Schedule" or "Save." The name of the option depends on the page type and the current interface. Scheduled posts for a personal profile and a community may be located in different post management sections.

How to Send a Post to a Community

Open "Share" and select "To a community." The list will show groups and public pages where you have the appropriate rights. Select the community you need, check the author field, and click "Publish" or "Schedule."

To publish on behalf of a community, you usually need administrator, editor, or other staff rights that allow posting. If the group you need isn't in the list, check your role in the community settings. The restriction may also be due to the original publication being closed for distribution.

How to Forward a Post in a Private Message or Story

In the "Share" menu, select "In a private message," find the user or chat, and click "Send." A card of the original publication with a link will be sent to the dialogue, so the recipient can open the original if they have access.

To publish to a story, select "To a story." The availability of this option depends on the type of entry and the author's settings. In the editing window, you can add text, a sticker, or other elements, then tap the story publish button. A story and a wall post are different formats, so reposting to a story doesn't create a regular post on your page.

Reposting a Video and a Clip May Work Differently

For a video, the "Share" button may be located under the player, and for a clip, in the panel on the right or in the three-dot menu. Click it and check whether the "On your page" option is available. Sometimes VK only offers sending in a private message, publishing to a story, or copying the link.

This depends on the video source, the format of the material, and the author's settings. If the video is open in a separate player, first expand its page, and then use the "Share" arrow. Don't confuse this function with copying the link: a link in a new post may show a preview, but it doesn't always create a full-fledged repost with a card of the original entry.

Why You Can't Repost

• The author has restricted the distribution of the post or changed the privacy settings.
• The post is in a closed community, and you don't have access to its audience.
• The entry has been deleted, hidden by moderation, or only opens after logging into the right account.
• You opened not the original but an embedded copy in another post. Go to the author or the date of the original publication and repeat the action.
• You don't have enough staff rights to publish in the community.
• The app shows an incomplete menu due to an outdated version or corrupted cache.

If the "Share" menu doesn't open in the mobile app, first check for a VK update in the app store. On Android, you can clear the cache through the system path "Settings" → "Apps" → "VK" → "Memory" or "Storage" → "Clear cache." On iPhone, there is usually no separate cache-clearing button: use an app update or reinstall.

If after that a specific post still doesn't have the "On your page" option, the problem is most likely related not to the app but to access to the publication. You can copy the link through "Share" → "Copy link" or through the three-dot menu, but such a publication doesn't replace a full-fledged repost.

What Happens After a Repost

A separate publication appears on your page with a card of the original entry, the name of the author or community, and a link to the original. Likes, comments, and views of the original post are not transferred. Reactions under your publication are collected separately.

If the author deletes the entry, closes access, or changes the privacy settings, the repost may stop opening for you and your subscribers. Posting on your page doesn't change the access rights to the original material.
