The largest Google corporation has spent more than ten million dollars on adapting several important projects for the Stage service, which is cloud-based. This is reported by Boomerang, based on information from its own sources.
Google believed that Stadia would be able to recoup all the funds by selling controllers, but this did not happen. The main culprit is considered to be the project manager Phil Harrison, according to the well-known journalist Jason Schreier. Most of the Google employees suggested a less rapid development of the project, but Phil insisted on his own.
This month, Google had to close several studios that were developing games for Stadia in the cities of Los Angeles and Montreal. The company can only cooperate with other publishers and developers of game projects.
It turns out that the business model did not exceed expectations, Google suffered a fiasco and lost huge sums. We hope that this misdemeanor will not affect the further development of the Stadia service.
