TikTok LIVE Gifts: Coins, Diamonds and How Much a Streamer Earns in 2026

TikTok LIVE gifts work in three steps: a viewer buys Coins, spends them on a Gift during a stream, and the creator receives Diamonds for that gift, which can be cashed out as money. TikTok does not publish an official rate, but according to creators' observations over the years, the picture is this: a gift earns roughly half of its coin price in diamonds, and one diamond is worth about 0.5 cents at cash-out. As a result, out of $10 a viewer spends, the streamer gets roughly $2-2.5. You can only receive gifts from the age of 18, and since 2022 TikTok LIVE has been unavailable in Russia, both for streaming and for monetization.

Coins, Gifts and Diamonds: what is the difference

TikTok has three virtual "currencies", and each has its own role.

• Coins are what a viewer buys with real money. You can buy Coins and send Gifts only from the age of 18 (or the age required by local law). Coins cannot be transferred to another account or sold, and they can be refunded only in certain cases, under the rules of your country or app store.
• Gifts are animated icons that a viewer sends during a LIVE or under a video. Every gift has a price in Coins, which is deducted from the balance at the moment of sending. Everyone sees the gift: the sender's name appears in the stream.
• Diamonds are what the creator receives. TikTok officially describes them as a way to show appreciation for a creator's popularity. Diamonds are credited for LIVE gifts and for taking part in certain tasks and campaigns. Diamonds cannot be bought, and they cannot be exchanged back into Coins.

The chain looks like this: viewer's money → Coins → Gift → creator's Diamonds → reward (cash-out). At every step part of the amount stays with the platform, and if the Coins were bought in the app, part also stays with the App Store or Google Play.

How much Coins cost: app vs. website

The price of Coins depends on the country, taxes and where you buy. The main rule: on tiktok.com Coins are usually cheaper than in the mobile app, because the price in the app includes the app store's fee.

The difference can reach a third: 1,000 Coins cost roughly $10.5 on the website and about $15 in the app. Prices in other countries and currencies differ; the exact amount is shown on the top-up screen in your region.

How much a streamer gets for a gift

Officially, TikTok discloses neither the rate for converting gifts to diamonds, nor the value of a diamond, nor the creator's share. There is only indirect data. In 2022 the BBC ran an experiment: out of $106 worth of gifts, a test account received $33, meaning the platform kept about 69%. TikTok replied at the time that its commission is "significantly less than 70%", but did not give an exact figure.

Creators' reports and industry media add up to the following working calculation (this is an estimate, not an official rate):

• a gift earns about 50% of its coin price in diamonds: a 1,000-coin gift gives about 500 diamonds;
• one diamond is worth about $0.005 at cash-out: 500 diamonds is roughly $2.5.

Counting from the viewer's money, it looks like this:

Two conclusions follow. First: the streamer gets the same amount wherever the viewer bought the Coins, while a viewer who buys on the website spends less. Second: the creator's real share is about a quarter of the money spent, not half, as is often written. TikTok can change the rate at any moment, so check the figures on the rewards screen in the app.

The gift catalog changes: TikTok adds seasonal gifts, removes old ones and sometimes changes prices. Below are the gifts whose price matches across several independent catalogs for 2026. The amount for the creator follows the calculation above.

Who can receive gifts on LIVE

TikTok's requirements are divided into fixed and floating ones.

• Age 18+. Since November 23, 2022, you can go LIVE only from the age of 18 (before that, from 16). From 18 you can also receive diamonds. In some countries the threshold is higher under local law.
• Followers. TikTok says the creator must meet follower requirements, but does not officially name a specific number and tests different thresholds. In practice the most common figure is 1,000 followers, but conditions differ in some regions.
• Country. Gifts and diamonds work only where TikTok has enabled them.
• A clean account. The account must comply with the Community Guidelines and the LIVE monetization rules: graphic, unoriginal and low-quality content cannot earn from gifts.
• Age verification. TikTok may ask you to verify your age before a LIVE or a cash-out, with a document, a selfie or another method available in your country.

How to cash out and how long to wait

Your diamond balance is visible in your profile: menu → "Balance" → "LIVE rewards". Cash-out is arranged from the same place.

1. Link a payout method, usually PayPal; in some countries a bank transfer is available. The name on TikTok must match the account holder's name.
2. Pass identity verification if requested: TikTok may ask for a document to confirm your age and your right to the payout.
3. Choose the amount. The minimum and the daily limit depend on the country and are shown on the cash-out screen.
4. Wait for the review. TikTok does not guarantee timing; after the money reaches PayPal, the payment system itself may hold it.

Taxes are your responsibility: the platform may withhold tax where the law requires it and report payouts to tax authorities.

Refunds and gift reversals

If a viewer got their money back for Coins (for example through the bank or the app store), the reward for a gift bought with those Coins is cancelled, and TikTok may demand that you return an amount you have already cashed out. For violations of the rules the platform may zero out diamonds and close access to monetization; when an account is deleted, the whole balance is lost. So do not rush to celebrate suspiciously generous "sponsors" from new accounts.

TikTok in Russia: what works now

On March 6, 2022, TikTok itself suspended live broadcasts and the publishing of new content for Russia because of the "fake news" law. Roskomnadzor did not block the app, and it remains in the app stores. As of the end of 2026, according to Russian media, the situation is as follows:

• the app and the website open from Russia, but the feed consists mostly of old videos;
• you cannot post new videos through the official app with a Russian IP;
• you cannot go LIVE or watch LIVE from Russia;
• official monetization (gifts, diamonds, the rewards program) is unavailable to users in Russia;
• ByteDance has not announced any timeline for restoring the service in its previous form.

How to get more gifts

People give gifts to those they watch for a long time and feel a connection with. What works best:

• Battles (LIVE Match). A contest between two or more streamers where the winner is whoever receives more gifts during the round. • Stream goals. Set a clear goal: "100 Roses and I change my skin", "Galaxy and I play blindfolded". Progress on screen motivates more than begging does.
• Thanking by name. Name every gifter, even for a single Rose. Someone noticed for 1 coin often comes back with a more expensive gift.
• Consistency. Streams on the same days and at the same hours train viewers to show up, and regular viewers give more often than random ones.
• Short videos before a stream. A video announcing the stream a couple of hours before the LIVE brings people in from the feed.

Without viewers in the first minutes, a stream barely gets into recommendations, because the algorithm is reluctant to show an empty broadcast.
