How to change the title of a scheduled YouTube stream
Can you change the title of a scheduled stream
Yes, you can change the title of a scheduled broadcast in YouTube Studio without creating a new stream. You don't need to delete the existing page, pick a new date and time, or get a different link.
The title is part of the event's data, not its URL. After editing, the same broadcast page keeps the same identifier. So the link you've already sent to viewers, added to your website, or posted on social media usually doesn't need to be changed.
It's important to open the existing stream. If you click "Create" or "Schedule stream," YouTube will start setting up a new event. Before editing, check the channel name and the stream date, especially if your account has several channels or several scheduled broadcasts.
What to check before editing
It's easier to change the title in the browser version of YouTube Studio on a computer. In the mobile app, some settings may be unavailable, and section names sometimes differ. If you're working from your phone, open YouTube Studio in a browser and switch to the full version of the site if needed.
To change the title, you need permission to manage the channel's content. If the stream belongs to a brand channel, make sure you're signed in to an account with a role that allows editing videos and streams. Without sufficient permissions, the event card may open in view-only mode.
Also, find the right stream among the scheduled ones in advance. Don't rely on the thumbnail alone: compare the date, time, and description so you don't accidentally change a different event.

How to change the title in YouTube Studio
The exact steps in the interface may vary slightly, but the logic stays the same: open the card of a stream you've already created, change the title field, and save your data.
- Open YouTube Studio and select the right channel if your account has several.
- In the left menu, go to "Content." Open the "Streams," "Live," or live broadcasts tab. In some interface versions, scheduled events are under the "Upcoming" tab.
- Find the right broadcast by its title, thumbnail, date, or start time. Click its card, title, or edit button.
- Open the stream details. In the "Title" field, select the old text and enter the new one. The title should match the stream's content and follow YouTube's rules. Video titles have a length limit, so the field won't accept text that's too long.
- Check the other details and click "Save." If the service shows a separate confirmation, complete it and wait for saving to finish.
After saving, refresh the stream page in YouTube Studio. Then open the public broadcast page in a new tab and check what title viewers see. This helps you confirm that you changed the right event and not just the draft form in the dashboard.
What happens to the link and stream settings
Changing the title doesn't create a separate broadcast. The same event page is kept, so the link you've already published usually still leads to the same stream. The start date and time, access settings, description, thumbnail, and chat settings also stay the same unless you edit them separately.
If you're streaming through OBS, a hardware encoder, or another program, a new title usually doesn't require changing the stream key. The program connects to the event you created, and the title is stored in the stream settings on YouTube itself. Don't create a new broadcast or replace the key unless necessary: this can lead to connecting to the wrong page.
In the same card, you can update the description, thumbnail, date, time, category, and access level if needed. Change only the fields you need. If viewers already have the link, saving the old event reduces the risk of confusion between two pages.
Notifications or social media posts you've already sent may show the old title. This depends on when they were created and whether the preview has updated. If the change matters for your announcement, after saving, check the posts and messages that mention the old title and edit them manually if needed.
If the title won't change or save
First, refresh the YouTube Studio page and make sure you've selected the right channel. Then open the scheduled stream card again, not just the general list of events. Sometimes the editing field becomes available after you go into the stream settings.
If the stream doesn't appear, check the upcoming broadcasts tab and reset the list filters. The event may also be scheduled for a different date or belong to another channel in the same account.
If there's no save button, scroll to the bottom of the form and check the required fields. The new title won't be applied until you complete saving. After clicking the button, don't close the tab right away: wait for a success message or reopen the card and check the data.
If the old title comes back, try opening Studio in another browser or with extensions disabled. Signing in to your account again can also help. If the dashboard shows the new title but the public page shows the old one, refresh the page with cache clearing or check it in incognito mode. The preview sometimes doesn't update right away.
If the stream has already started, edit it through the current live control panel. For a finished broadcast, settings are changed on the saved recording. That's a different stage of work, so the field location and available settings may differ from those of a scheduled event.
When working with a brand channel, check the user permissions separately. The owner or a manager with the right permissions can edit details, but a view-only account cannot. If you have access but the error persists, sign out, sign in again, and repeat the action in the browser version of Studio.
In short: step-by-step
- Open YouTube Studio and select the right channel.
- Go to the content section and find the scheduled stream.
- Open the existing broadcast card without creating a new one.
- Replace the text in the "Title" field and click "Save."
- Check the title on the stream page and make sure the old link still opens.
