How to Connect Comments to a Channel in MAX
How comments on a channel in MAX work
Comments on channel posts work through a discussion space. This is usually a separate chat that gets linked to the channel. Once connected, a button or link to the discussion appears under posts, and users' messages go to the linked chat.
This format is convenient for questions, feedback, and communicating with your audience. The channel itself remains a place for posts, while the chat is used for replies and discussions. You can create a separate chat just for comments or connect an existing group.
Comments are tied not to the channel owner's personal messages but specifically to the selected chat. That's why, before setting things up, it's important to check where subscribers will be directed and who will be able to read and send messages.
Menu item names may differ depending on the MAX version and device. Look for sections related to channel management, comments, discussion, or the linked chat.
What to check before connecting
To set this up, you need the rights of the channel owner or an administrator who is allowed to manage the channel and chats. If the required section isn't available, ask the owner to do the connection or change your permissions. It's best to check this before creating a new chat so you don't waste time on setup you can't complete.
If you're creating a chat from scratch, it's better to use it only for discussing posts. In a general group, comments may get mixed in with other messages, and it will be harder for subscribers to figure out where to find replies to a specific post.
Check access in advance. Depending on the channel and chat settings, a user may need to join the discussion space before they can write a message. Make sure participants are allowed to send messages and that restrictions aren't blocking replies.
Also decide in advance who will monitor the discussion. For a small channel, one responsible person is enough. If there are a lot of messages, clear rules and several moderators will come in handy.
How to connect comments to a channel
- Open MAX and go to the channel you need.
- Open the channel card or the management menu. This is usually done by tapping the channel name or image at the top of the screen.
- Find the "Comments," "Discussion," or another section related to the chat for posts.
- Select an existing chat from the list or create a new one. When creating one, enter a name and complete the standard chat setup.
- Carefully check the selected chat and confirm the link. If MAX shows a warning or additional parameters, read them before tapping the confirm button.
- Go back to the channel posts and check whether a button to go to the comments has appeared.
If MAX offers several similar chats, don't rely on the name alone. Open the group you need in advance, check its description, and make sure it isn't an archived or test chat.
When connecting an existing group, check that it's suitable for discussing posts: participants should understand the purpose of the chat, and message sending shouldn't be completely disabled. For a public channel, it's better to use a clear name and a short description with communication rules.

How to check that comments are working
After connecting, open a new or already published post. A button to go to the discussion or another comment-related element should appear under it. Tap it and check that MAX opens the linked chat specifically.
Leave a test message and reply to it. This way you'll check not only the navigation but also how messages are displayed, replies, notifications, and access to sending. If possible, open the channel from another account: the owner and a subscriber may see different interface elements.
Check several posts, not just one. If the button appears on some posts but not others, the cause may be related to the specifics of the post, access settings, or an interface loading glitch.
Notifications are configured separately. If there are a lot of comments, turn off unnecessary alerts on your personal device but keep notifications on for the person responsible for moderation. This helps you avoid missing questions and avoid getting an alert for every message around the clock.
How to disable comments or change the chat
To disable comments, open channel management again and go to the "Comments," "Discussion," or "Linked chat" section. Find an action like "Disable," "Unlink chat," or "Remove link," then confirm it.
Unlinking and deleting a chat are different actions. Don't delete the chat if you want to keep its history or come back to it later. Read the MAX warning before confirming: depending on the app version, it may tell you what will change for new posts.
To change the chat, first open the comment settings and unlink the current group. Then select another chat from the list or create a new one, confirm the link, and check the button under a post. Don't expect old discussions to be automatically moved to the new chat: changing the link usually changes the place for future communication rather than transferring history.
After changing the chat, open the channel from a subscriber's side. Check whether an old link remains, whether the button leads to the previous group, and whether participants are allowed to send messages in the new space.
What to do if comments don't appear
First, open the channel settings and check that the link is actually saved. Sometimes a chat is selected from the list but the final action isn't confirmed. Also make sure you're in the right channel and using the account from which the setup was performed.
If the button is missing under only one post, check several other posts. Then close and reopen MAX, refresh the list of posts, and install the latest version of the app. A temporary interface glitch may disappear after a restart.
If the button is there but the link leads to the wrong chat, compare the name of the group that opened with the name of the linked chat in the channel settings. Go back to the comments section, unlink the wrong group, select the right one, and confirm the connection again. Then repeat the test with another post.
If the link gives an error, check the privacy and access settings of the channel and chat. See whether viewing is restricted for the intended audience, whether users can join the chat, and whether they're allowed to send messages. A private chat or a restriction on posting may look like a comments malfunction.
If the problem persists, reconnect the chat: open the settings, disable the current link, restart MAX, select the same chat again, and check the result. Don't delete the group during this check so you don't lose access to its history.
When the button is completely missing even after updating and reconnecting, the feature may be unavailable for a specific app version, channel type, or current access settings. In that case, contact MAX support through the help section available in the app. In your request, specify at which step the error appears, add a screenshot without personal data, the device name, and the app version.
Moderating comments after connecting
Once it's up and running, monitor the linked chat just as you would comments on any other platform. Pin short communication rules, explain the topic of discussions, and remove spam or messages that violate the channel rules.
You don't have to reply to every remark, but it's best not to leave questions about your posts unanswered. If the discussion grows quickly, assign message checking and subscriber replies among moderators in advance.
Quick summary
- Open the management of the channel you need in MAX and check the permissions for setup.
- Find the comments or discussions section.
- Create a chat or select a suitable existing group.
- Confirm the link and check the button under several posts.
- Check the navigation, access to sending messages, and privacy settings.
- If there's an error, reconnect the chat, and if that doesn't help, contact MAX support.
