How to Hide the Viewer Count on Twitch During a Stream
What Exactly Twitch Hides
Twitch has a setting called Hide Viewer Count. It removes the current number from the streamer dashboard so you don't see it during your broadcast. This is handy if the viewer count distracts you, makes you more nervous, or pushes you to constantly change your delivery.
The setting doesn't end the broadcast, change channel settings, or stop data collection. Twitch keeps tracking viewers, average view count, activity, and other metrics. Only the number displayed to the channel owner in the stream management interface is hidden.
It's important not to confuse this feature with hiding the counter from your audience entirely. Viewers can still see the number of users on the stream page if Twitch displays it in the standard interface.
How to Enable Hiding the Counter in the Creator Dashboard
You can turn the toggle on before you start broadcasting or while you're already live. Restarting the stream after the change usually isn't necessary.
- Open Twitch in a browser and sign in to the account you stream from.
- Click your profile picture and go to the Creator Dashboard.
- In the left menu, open Settings, then the Stream section.
- Find the Stream Preferences block and the Hide Viewer Count option.
- Turn on the toggle. If the interface is in another language, the option may appear under a translated name.
Then go back to Stream Manager. The current number should disappear from the dashboard. If it's still on screen, refresh the Creator Dashboard page. Refreshing won't stop a running broadcast, but it's best to check any unsaved changes in individual widgets beforehand.

If the Toggle Isn't There
Where Twitch settings are located can vary depending on the dashboard version and interface language. In some versions of the Creator Dashboard, the option is available directly in Stream Manager next to the stats block. Look for the name Hide Viewer Count, not the analytics or chat participant list settings.
If you can't find the feature, open the dashboard in the full desktop version of the site. In the mobile Creator Dashboard app, some settings may not be available. Also check that you're signed in to the channel owner's account or a user with permission to manage the stream.
If the option doesn't appear after refreshing the page, try signing out and back in. Browser extensions that change Twitch's appearance can also hide dashboard elements. To check, temporarily open the Creator Dashboard in incognito mode without any extensions.
If the number appears not in Twitch but in OBS or another broadcasting program, that's a separate interface element. Hiding the counter in the Creator Dashboard doesn't remove the stats block from your broadcasting software. You need to close or disable it in the program's own settings.
What Viewers Will See After Enabling the Feature
This change is primarily for the streamer. It doesn't hide the channel, chat, subscription notifications, or the stream itself. Viewers can also continue to see public Twitch data, including the counter on the stream page.
There's no official setting that makes your stream completely anonymous in terms of statistics. If your goal is simply not to show the number to yourself, Hide Viewer Count is enough. If you need to hide it from your audience, there's no single universal toggle in the channel settings for that.
It's best not to try solving this with random browser extensions: they may only change how the page looks on your device and sometimes conflict with the dashboard. For your own peace of mind, it's safer to use Twitch's built-in setting.
In Short: What to Do Step by Step
- Open Twitch and go to the Creator Dashboard.
- Go to Settings → Stream.
- In the Stream Preferences section, turn on Hide Viewer Count.
- Check Stream Manager and refresh the page if needed.
- If the counter is still in OBS, disable it separately in the OBS interface.
