How to Pin a Post in a MAX Channel
What It Means to Pin a Post in a MAX Channel
MAX is a standalone messenger that offers private chats, group chats, and channels. This guide specifically covers a MAX channel, not a channel in Telegram or any other social network.
Pinning highlights an already published post and gives subscribers quick access to it. The pinned block can hold channel rules, a schedule, an important announcement, a livestream link, contest terms, or any other material that needs to stay visible.
A pinned publication appears at the top of the channel, in a separate area above the main feed. Subscribers don't need to scroll back through posts to the publication date: they can simply open this block and go to the post. The post itself stays in its original place in the feed, doesn't get a new date, and isn't published again.
An active pin applies to the entire channel. So new subscribers typically also see the pinned block after entering the channel—they didn't need to be there when it was published. The post's text, reactions, comments, and attachments are preserved.
Not just any subscriber can pin a post. Usually, this option is available to the channel owner and administrators with permission to manage publications. If there's no "Pin" button, first check your permissions rather than looking for it in MAX's general settings.
What to Check Before You Start
Open MAX and go to the channel you need. Make sure it's the channel you manage. The feed must contain a ready, published post: you can't pin a draft, text in the input field, or a comment on a post.
You pin a specific publication, so you need to open the menu on the post itself. Don't use the channel header menu and don't go into the profile settings section: those change channel parameters, but don't select a message to pin.
Before pinning, check the post's content. Subscribers will go to it from the top block, so the publication must have current links, dates, terms, and contacts. If the information is already outdated, it's better to edit it if that option is available, or prepare a new post.
If you don't run the channel, ask the owner to grant you administrator rights with permission to manage messages, or ask them to pin the publication themselves. Subscriber status alone isn't enough for this operation.
How to Pin a Post in MAX from Your Phone
In the MAX mobile app, the command you need is in the menu of the specific publication. To open the menu, use the three-dot button next to the post. If the button doesn't appear in your app version, try pressing and holding the post itself: this gesture may open the action menu for the selected message.
- Open the MAX app.
- Go to the channel where the post you need is published.
- Find the publication in the channel feed.
- Tap the three-dot button next to the publication or hold the post itself.
- In the menu that opens, tap "Pin."
- If a confirmation window appears, tap "Pin" again.
After running the command, open the top of the channel and check the pinned block. Tap it: MAX should open the exact publication you selected. This check is useful if there are several similar announcements next to each other in the feed.

How to Find the "Pin" Command in the Post Menu
The command isn't in the input field or in the channel settings. Open the menu of the publication you want to show subscribers in the top area. On your phone, this is usually the three-dot button next to the post or a long press on it.
In the action list that opens, look for "Pin." If MAX shows a confirmation, check the publication name and confirm the action. After that, the post won't disappear from the feed or become new: only its accessibility through the pinned block changes.
Don't tap the comment menu if you need to pin the post itself. A comment is a separate discussion element, and its actions may differ from the publication's actions. First go back to the main message card, then open its menu.
How to Pin a Publication on a Computer
The desktop version of MAX uses the same principle: first open the post menu, then select the exact "Pin" command. General channel settings won't work for this.
- Launch MAX on your computer and open the channel you need.
- Find the published post that should be available to subscribers in the pinned block.
- Hover your mouse over the publication so the controls appear.
- Click the three-dot button in the post menu.
- Select "Pin."
- Confirm the action with the "Pin" button if MAX shows a separate window.
In some desktop interface versions, you can open the message menu with a right-click. If the context menu has a "Pin" item, select it and confirm the action. It's important that the menu belongs to the right post, not to an empty spot in the feed or to the channel settings.
Once you've completed the action, go to the top of the channel and open the pinned block. If it leads to the selected post, the publication is pinned correctly. If needed, you can return to its menu and change the pin.
How to Replace a Pinned Post
Replacement is needed when an old announcement is no longer accurate: dates, a link, a schedule, or event terms have changed. You shouldn't just publish a new post on top of the old one—first check which publication is currently in the pinned area.
- Open the menu of the currently pinned post.
- Select the "Unpin" command and confirm the action if MAX asks for confirmation.
- Find the new published post in the feed.
- Open the new post's menu and tap "Pin."
- Go to the top of the channel and check that the block opens the current publication.
If your version of MAX offers to replace an already pinned post when you pin a new one, follow the on-screen prompt. If there's no such prompt, use the sequence of unpinning the old publication. Unpinning itself doesn't delete the post: it stays in the feed in its original place.
How to Unpin a Post in MAX
To remove a publication from the pinned area, open the channel and go to the post you need. You can find it manually in the feed or through the top pinned block. The menu should use the "Unpin" command.
- Open the menu of the post you need with the three-dot button or a long press on your phone.
- Select the "Unpin" command.
- Confirm the action if MAX asks you to.
After the "Unpin" command, the post isn't deleted, and its reactions, comments, and publication date are preserved. It stops appearing in the separate area above the feed but remains accessible when viewing the channel normally.
If the "Unpin" command is unavailable, check that you opened the pinned publication and that you have administrator rights. Don't delete the post just to remove it from the top block: deletion is a separate action that can lead to losing the discussion and attachments.
Why There's No "Pin" Button in the Menu
The first possible reason is insufficient permissions. A subscriber can read publications and leave reactions but can't manage pinned messages. In someone else's channel, the button will only appear if you have the appropriate permission.
The second reason is opening the wrong menu. The "Pin" command should be among the actions for a specific published post. Check that you tapped the three-dot button next to the right publication and didn't open the menu for the channel, a comment, a draft, or a forwarded message.
Also make sure MAX is updated and your connection is stable. Close and reopen the channel, then repeat the action. If you have administrator rights, the post is published, and the button is still missing, check your role settings and contact MAX support. Don't delete the post or republish it unnecessarily: the problem is usually related to access or the menu you selected.
In Short: The Order of Steps
- Open the MAX channel and find the published post.
- Tap the three-dot button next to the publication or hold the post on your phone.
- Select the exact "Pin" command and confirm the action if a window appears.
- Check the pinned block at the top of the channel: it should lead to the right post.
- To replace a post, unpin the old publication and pin the new one.
- To remove a post from the top area without deleting it from the feed, open its menu and select "Unpin."
