Platforms launching in 2026

The streaming market never stands still. Some services close, others merge into giants, and still others try to enter from an unexpected angle – through blockchain and Web3. 2026 will be no exception. We tell you about the main changes and new players that have already appeared or are about to launch.

Rutube acquires Premier and Yappy: the birth of a media giant

The biggest event in the Russian market is the merger of three services into one monster. Video hosting Rutube, online cinema Premier, and social network Yappy will become a single digital platform. The process will be completed in the first half of 2026.

All three services will be combined under the Rutube brand. Yappy will turn into Rutube Shorts – a section for short vertical videos. Premier will continue to operate under the name Rutube Premier. The idea is simple: the user gets one account, one subscription, and access to everything: from amateur videos to Hollywood blockbusters.

The merger has been in preparation for two years. A single subscription for all three platforms already exists, which is cheaper than three separate ones. According to the plan of "Gazprom-Media Holding," the services will have a common video editor and a unified technical infrastructure.

Currently, Rutube is watched by 16 to 21 million people daily and up to 80 million monthly. The management hopes that the merger will attract new creators and viewers. For streamers, this means the emergence of a major Russian platform supporting short and long-form content, as well as legal cinema. If the platform offers clear monetization, it could become a real alternative to YouTube for Russian-speaking creators.

HBO Max takes over the world: Europe and beyond

Warner Bros. Discovery continues its expansion. HBO Max is entering new markets, and 2026 is no exception.

In March, the platform launched in the UK and Ireland. Four tariff plans are available – from 4.99 to 14.99 pounds per month. By the end of the year, HBO Max will appear in New Zealand. In Australia, the service is already operating, and it launched in Germany and Italy in early 2026.

For streamers, this is not a direct alternative to Twitch or YouTube. But it is an important market trend indicator: major players continue to fight for viewer attention, and competition in the paid content segment is growing. Viewers have more and more choices, which means platforms will have to fight for quality, not for monopoly.

Cineflicks: blockchain streaming

In April 2026, a new project announced itself – Cineflicks. The platform from Dubai combines traditional streaming with Web3 elements and user participation.

Cineflicks is currently in beta testing. A Web3 wallet is built into the platform to manage digital assets and track user activity. The project has already launched its first round of token sales.

The Cineflicks model implies not passive consumption, but involving viewers in the ecosystem. Users will be able to participate in the platform's development and receive rewards for it. The idea resembles early-stage Twitch, where the community felt like co-creators, not just viewers.

For streamers, Cineflicks is not yet a direct competitor. But the trend itself is important: the market is moving towards interactivity and engagement. Platforms that give the audience not just to watch, but to participate, gain an advantage.

What else is happening in the market

Twitch remains one of the main trends in internet marketing in 2026. Experts note its growth among both bloggers and advertisers. The platform is not losing ground, despite the pressure from competitors.

Rutube is introducing levels for creators: "beginner," "advanced," and "professional" with different monetization opportunities. This is an attempt to create a clear career path for content creators.

Trovo continues to attract independent creators with its ease of starting and flexible monetization. Tencent's platform still remains in the shadow of giants, but it has its niche.

Conclusion: where should a streamer look in 2026?

For streamers, the main event of the year is the merger of Rutube, Premier, and Yappy. If the new platform offers clear monetization and convenient tools, Russian-speaking creators will have a real alternative to Western services. Stay tuned – the launch is coming soon.

The international market continues to fragment. HBO Max is conquering new territories, Cineflicks is experimenting with Web3, and Twitch and Trovo are adapting to new realities. Viewers and creators have more choices. This means platforms will have to fight for quality, not for monopoly. And this, perhaps, is the main good news for everyone who creates content.
