How Prime Gaming Works on Your Twitch Channel
Prime Gaming on Twitch: There Is No Separate Setting
Prime Gaming lets a viewer with an active Amazon Prime account or Prime Gaming access subscribe to one Twitch channel for free. For the viewer, this is not a separate purchase within Twitch: it uses a benefit of their Amazon account. In the interface, the feature may be called Prime Gaming, Prime, or a free Prime subscription.
A channel creator does not enable Prime Gaming with a separate button or create a special setting for it. It is enough to have Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner status and standard subscriptions available. If a channel can accept standard subscriptions, a viewer with an eligible account will usually see the Prime Gaming option on the channel page.
A Prime Gaming subscription lasts for the current period and does not renew automatically. The viewer chooses the channel and reuses the available subscription when it becomes available again. Availability depends on region, account type, Amazon subscription status, and other conditions that Twitch and Amazon apply to a specific user.
What Requirements a Channel Needs
To accept subscriptions, a channel must be enrolled in the Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner program. If the channel has not yet received one of these statuses, Prime Gaming cannot be set up on it. No separate creator registration in Prime Gaming is required for this.
After the status is enabled, check that monetization and subscription features are available in Creator Dashboard. Section names may change, so look for items labeled "Monetization," "Subscriptions," "Revenue," and "Analytics." If the standard Subscribe button is not displayed for viewers, Prime Gaming will most likely be unavailable as well.
- Check that the channel has no restrictions on accepting subscriptions.
- Make sure the required Twitch payment and tax settings are completed.
- Set up the available subscription tiers, emotes, and subscriber badges.
- Check the channel page as a viewer, not only from your own account.
Affiliate or Partner status does not mean that every viewer will necessarily be able to get a Prime subscription. It only gives the channel the ability to accept subscriptions, while viewer access is determined separately.
What to Prepare in Channel Settings
Prime Gaming falls under basic Twitch subscriptions, so the same benefits apply as for a standard subscription of the corresponding tier. Decide in advance what a subscriber gets: emotes, a badge next to their name, access to subscriber chat, additional content, or other features.
Do not add benefits to the channel description that are not set up yet. If you promise a private chat or special content, make sure the permissions actually work and the viewer understands where to find them. This is especially important for new subscribers who come from a recommendation or from external social media.
Separately configure new subscription notifications in the streaming tool you use. A Prime Gaming event may appear among subscriptions, but an external notification service does not always show the source the same way. The main verification remains the record in Creator Dashboard and the Twitch subscriber list.
A creator cannot grant themselves a Prime subscription from their own dashboard. To test it, you need another viewer account with available Prime Gaming. The subscription must not have been used in the current period on that account, and the Amazon and Twitch accounts must be linked.

Quick Guide for Viewers
The viewer performs the linking themselves, because this requires logging into personal Amazon and Twitch accounts. A streamer can provide a short guide in the channel description, the "About" panel, or a chat command:
- Log in to an Amazon account with active Prime access on the official Prime Gaming page.
- Link that account to the desired Twitch account.
- Open the channel page, click the subscribe button, and select the Prime Gaming option if it is available.

Do not ask viewers to send a password, verification code, or account access. To link, it is enough to perform the actions on the official Amazon and Twitch pages. Third-party sites that offer to "activate Prime for the user" may be used for data theft.
How to Tell Your Audience About Prime Gaming
You should not publish a long instruction that spans several screens. It is enough to explain two actions: first link Twitch to the Prime Gaming account, then open the channel page and select the Prime subscription. Place the official Twitch help link next to it.
Add a warning about three specifics. A Prime subscription does not charge a separate fee on top of an active Prime membership, but the conditions depend on the country and account type. It does not renew automatically. The Prime option may not appear if the free subscription has already been used in the current period.
Example of a short message for the channel panel: "Have Amazon Prime? Link your Twitch and Prime Gaming accounts, then open the subscription menu on this channel and select Prime. The subscription is used manually and is not available in all regions."
Do not promise viewers that the button will appear immediately after registering on Twitch. First, the account conditions, regional availability, profile linkage, and the channel's own status must all align.
How to Check a Prime Subscription in Creator Dashboard
A completed Prime subscription counts as a channel subscription. It is better to verify it not by a single notification during a stream, but in several sections of Creator Dashboard. The Twitch interface may differ by language and version, but the needed data is located near revenue analytics and subscription management.
- Open Creator Dashboard.
- In the left panel, go to Analytics, then open Channel Analytics.
- Select the Revenue report.
- Find the Subscriptions block and set the period in which the viewer subscribed.
In this report, you can see the change in the number of subscriptions and revenue data for the selected period. Prime Gaming may be shown as a separate line or included in the overall subscription figure — this depends on the report view. The revenue amount also does not have to match a fixed value for each viewer: it is affected by Twitch's terms and the region.
To check a specific person, open the subscription management section in the "Monetization" block or the subscriber list page, if it is available in your version of the dashboard. In the subscriber card, look for the subscription type and the date it was created. If the type is not specified, match the viewer's name and the event time with the activity feed in Stream Manager.
In the activity feed, a new subscription usually appears as a subscription event. In some cases, the source is marked as Prime Gaming, and sometimes only the general event type is displayed. If the subscriber is already visible in the list but the revenue line has not updated yet, wait for the data to process and check the report later. Statistics and notifications may not update at the same time.
Why a Viewer Does Not See the Prime Button
The absence of the Prime Gaming option does not always mean a channel error. First, ask the viewer to check their account conditions, and then make sure that a standard subscription is available on your page.
- Prime Gaming is not supported in the viewer's region, or the current Prime access does not include this feature.
- The free subscription has already been used on another channel in the current period.
- The Amazon and Twitch accounts are not linked, or they are linked to a different Twitch account.
- The viewer is logged in to the wrong Amazon or Twitch profile, especially if multiple sessions are open in the browser.
- The account's Prime access has expired, activation is incomplete, or data confirmation is required again.
- The channel does not have Affiliate or Partner status, or standard subscriptions are temporarily unavailable on it.
- The page is open without being logged in to Twitch, in an old browser session, or with an error loading subscription elements.
Ask the viewer to log out of extra accounts, log back in to the correct profiles, and open the channel page in a regular browser. Clearing the session or checking in another browser may help if the issue is related to saved authorization, but it does not replace linking accounts.
Region cannot be fixed by simply changing a Twitch setting. Do not advise using a VPN or entering someone else's data: this may violate the services' rules and does not guarantee that the Prime button will appear.
How to Distinguish a Channel Issue from an Account Issue
Run the check in order. First, open the channel page without creator permissions or ask an acquaintance who is a viewer to check the standard subscription button. If Subscribe is not visible to anyone, check the Affiliate or Partner status and the monetization section.
If the standard subscription is available, ask a viewer with active Prime Gaming to check another channel. When the Prime option is missing on only one channel, the cause may be related to subscription availability on that specific channel. If Prime does not appear anywhere, the problem is more likely in the region, account linkage, or an already used subscription.
After a successful subscription, check three places: the event in the activity feed, the subscriber list, and the Analytics → Revenue → Subscriptions report. Do not draw conclusions from a single pop-up notification in your streaming software. It may be disabled, configured with filters, or not pass along the subscription type.
Also keep in mind that reusing Prime is not an automatic renewal of a standard paid subscription. Therefore, the absence of a separate notification in the next period does not by itself mean the channel is broken.
What to Do Step by Step
- Obtain Twitch Affiliate or Partner status and make sure the channel accepts standard subscriptions.
- Set up emotes, badges, benefits, and notifications for subscribers.
- Post a short guide in your profile with a link to the official Twitch help.
- Ask the viewer to link their Amazon and Twitch accounts and select Prime on the channel page.
- Check the event in the activity feed, the subscriber list, and the Analytics → Revenue → Subscriptions section.
- If the button is missing, check the region, the used subscription, the correct accounts, and subscription availability on the channel.
You do not need to enable Prime Gaming separately: for the creator, the main things are active Affiliate or Partner status, available subscriptions, and correct verification of events in Creator Dashboard.
