Strogo: Top 10 Twitch Streamer

In the first quarter of 2026, an event occurred that made the global streaming community pay attention to the Russian-speaking segment of Twitch. Ivan "StRoGo" Shurpatov, a 23-year-old guy from the Leningrad region, entered the top 10 most popular streamers on the planet, surpassing giants like xQc, and becoming the only CIS representative on this list. How did an ordinary guy, who started streaming Minecraft on a weak computer, manage to conquer global Twitch? We break down the StRoGo phenomenon.

Who is StRoGo: numbers and facts

Ivan Shurpatov, known by the nickname StRoGo (or just Strogo), was born on July 6, 2002, in the Leningrad region, near St. Petersburg. In 2026, he turned 23.

Metrics for May 2026:

  • Twitch — over 2,015,000 subscribers
  • Average monthly concurrent viewers — 32,566 viewers
  • Peak monthly concurrent viewers — 172,711 viewers
  • Hours watched per month — 5,015,260 hours
  • Global viewers rank — 12th place for 30 days
  • Rank among Russian-speaking streamers — 1st place
  • Rank among Counter-Strike streamers — 1st place

In the first quarter of 2026, StRoGo's content was watched for a total of over 12.5 million hours, which allowed him to take 10th place in the global Twitch top.

Over eight years of his streaming career, Ivan went from modest Minecraft broadcasts to the title of "best Counter-Strike 2 streamer" according to the SLAY award and a nomination for "Streamer of the Year" from HLTV.

The climb: from Minecraft to global top 10

2017–2019: First steps and an old computer

StRoGo began his streaming activity in 2017, when he was just 15 years old. His computer was weak — it could barely run Minecraft. But Vanya didn't despair: for four years he saved money given for birthdays to buy more powerful equipment.

His first streams were modest — literally 10-20 people watched him. But Ivan persistently continued. With the updated PC, Counter-Strike and Fortnite appeared in his broadcasts. Gradually, the audience began to grow, although stars were still far away.

2020: Pandemic breakthrough

StRoGo's real surge in popularity came during the coronavirus pandemic. When millions of people were stuck at home, the audience of streaming platforms skyrocketed.

In a short time, Ivan's average concurrent viewers grew from 1.4 thousand in the first three months of 2020 to 6.9 thousand. Joint broadcasts with other popular streamers, including Vadim Evelone192 Kozakov, played a key role in expanding reach.

It was then that he began to form his unique style. At first, StRoGo seemed quite modest and shy, but gradually revealed himself as a charismatic and cheerful host. His recognizable gestures — the way he adjusted his fringe and made "shapes" with his eyebrows — became a signature part of his image.

Creating squads: FREAK and Monkey Squad

Together with Evelone192 and other streamers, Ivan founded the FREAK Squad association — one of the most recognizable squads on Russian-speaking Twitch. This association helped participants mutually promote each other and create joint content that gathered tens of thousands of viewers.

Later he became a member of Monkey Squad — another popular streamer association. In this community, Ivan showed leadership qualities and received the status of "leader." Today he lives on Vasilievsky Island in St. Petersburg, sharing accommodation with friends from Monkey Squad.

2023–2024: Overcoming crisis and first awards

In the summer of 2023, StRoGo's career was under threat. He received an indefinite ban on Twitch for insults. The ban lasted three weeks, and during this time Twitch unsubscribed all his followers — Ivan essentially started from scratch. Fortunately, the appeal was overturned, and the channel returned to action.

But this crisis did not break the streamer. Already in 2024, StRoGo became a laureate of the prestigious SLAY award, which is annually held by Vyacheslav Buster Leontiev. Ivan won in the "Best Counter-Strike 2 Streamer" category. This award solidified his status as one of the leading Russian-speaking streamers.

2025–2026: Entering the global stage

The real breakthrough happened in 2025-2026. StRoGo began to actively participate in esports events. In February 2025, he was invited to join Aurora as a substitute to participate in the European Pro League tournament with a prize pool of $20,000.

Interestingly, the streamer himself volunteered to be a substitute. He appealed to all teams: "I offer you, if your player cannot play in some tournament, to take me as a substitute once. So that I can show what I am capable of." Aurora agreed, and Ivan performed достойно, finishing the match with a rating of 0.99 and even pulling off a 1v3 clutch.

The first official match became Ivan's most successful stream at that time — almost 60 thousand viewers at its peak.

On December 3, 2025, while going to the SLAY awards, StRoGo set a new record — over 86.7 thousand viewers on a single broadcast.

And in the first quarter of 2026, Ivan reached his peak: his content was watched for 12.5 million hours, and he entered the top 10 most popular streamers in the world, becoming the only CIS representative on this list.

Secret to success: how StRoGo conquered Twitch

The StRoGo phenomenon can be explained by several key factors.

1. From newcomer to professional before viewers' eyes
Unlike many top streamers who came to the platform as finished "stars," Ivan grew up in front of his audience. Viewers saw him start with an old computer in Minecraft, how he gradually progressed in CS, how he fought for his place in the sun. This "from zero to hero" story creates a strong emotional connection with the audience.
