Set up the countdown: how many minutes to wait or what time to count to, a caption above the digits and the text shown at the end. Copy the link and add it to OBS as a Browser source: the timer sits on top of your scene with a transparent background.
Important for the "minutes" mode: the countdown starts when the page loads. If "Refresh browser when scene becomes active" or "Shutdown source when not visible" is on in the source properties, OBS reloads the timer every time you switch to the scene and it starts over. For one countdown for the whole evening, untick these options or use the "until time" mode.
Everything is calculated in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
All settings live in the link itself, after the # sign. The server never sees them and stores nothing: add the source once and it keeps working until you change the link. Want a different text or color? Set it up here again and paste the new link into the source properties.
The "until time" mode uses the clock of the computer running OBS. If that time came less than an hour ago, the end text is shown right away, so an OBS reload after your stream starts will not restart the countdown. If more than an hour has passed, it counts down to the same time tomorrow. The "minutes" mode starts counting when the source loads, so any page reload starts it over. Seconds are taken from the system clock rather than counted timer ticks, so the countdown does not drift even over several hours. The format is picked automatically: MM:SS under an hour, HH:MM:SS for longer.
Set up the timer on this page and copy the link. In OBS, click "+" in the Sources dock, choose Browser, paste the link into the URL field and set the width and height, for example 1920 and 1080. Then move and resize the source on your scene.
In the "minutes" mode the countdown starts when the page loads. OBS reloads the source if "Refresh browser when scene becomes active" or "Shutdown source when not visible" is turned on in its properties. Untick them or switch to the "until time" mode, which does not care about reloads.
The timer page has a transparent background, and OBS adds a transparent-background style to every Browser source by default. If you have edited the Custom CSS field in the source properties, keep the rule background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) in it.
Yes: choose the "until time" mode and enter the hours and minutes. It counts by the clock of the computer running OBS. If that time came less than an hour ago, the timer shows the end text; if more than an hour has passed, it counts to the same time tomorrow.
