Twitch Affiliate in 2026: Requirements and How to Get It
To become a Twitch Affiliate in 2026, you need to reach 25 followers within the last 30 days, stream for at least 4 hours, stream on 4 different days, and average at least 3 concurrent viewers on at least 4 of those days. You do not need to apply: once all four conditions are met, Twitch itself sends an invitation by email and in the Creator Dashboard. The requirements were lowered in summer 2025; before that, Twitch asked for 50 followers, 8 hours and 7 days of streaming. Since May 2026, subscriptions and Bits are gradually being opened to channels without Affiliate status, but only an Affiliate or Partner can cash out earnings.
Twitch Affiliate requirements in 2026
Twitch announced the new conditions in the Monetization for All post on the platform's blog. It compares the old and new requirements. According to Twitch's wording, the conditions were updated “in early June”, and archived copies of the post show that this was June 2025. In May 2026 Twitch republished the material when it opened monetization to everyone. Official sources do not confirm any separate reduction in June 2026: the same numbers apply.
| Condition | Before June 2025 | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Followers | 50 | 25 |
| Time streamed | 8 hours | 4 hours |
| Different broadcast days | 7 | 4 |
| Viewers | 3 on average over 30 days | an average of 3 or more viewers on at least 4 different days |
Here is what each item means in practice.
- 25 followers. This counts the channel's total followers, not growth over the month. If you already have an audience on Telegram or VK, this condition is met in a couple of days.
- 4 hours of streaming. In total over 30 days. That is two two-hour streams, so this item is easy on its own.
- 4 different days. Calendar days on which you streamed are counted. Four streams on one day count as one day.
- 3 viewers on average. This means the average number of concurrent viewers, not the sum of views per stream. If a stream lasted 2 hours and 3 people watched the whole time, that is 3. If 10 people dropped in for a minute and left, the average will be close to zero. Days where the average is below three do not hurt you: you just need to find 4 good days out of all your streams in the month.
Which requirement is the hardest
Almost always it is the average viewer count that holds people back. You can bring followers in from social networks, and hours and days depend only on your schedule, but three people who stay on the stream from start to finish is a question of how interesting your content is. A new channel in a popular category drowns in a list of thousands of streams, and viewers simply never find it.
There is a practical takeaway: it is better to make streams shorter but denser. A two-hour stream watched by 4 people will count. A six-hour stream where 5 viewers stay for the first hour and a half and then only one remains may not pass on average. Sometimes it pays to end the stream while viewers are still in chat rather than stretching it across the whole evening.
Keep in mind that chat bots such as Nightbot and Moobot are not counted as viewers. Twitch also filters out suspicious activity, so it looks at the real conditions of the broadcast, not just the number on the counter.
Where to track your progress
Open the Creator Dashboard (dashboard.twitch.tv), go to Insights → Achievements and choose the Path to Affiliate card. It shows how much is done for each of the four items.
- Progress is calculated over a rolling 30 days. Old streams drop out of the window, so the numbers can roll back if you take a break.
- Followers in Achievements are a running total, while hours, days and viewers cover only the last 30 days. The figures may not match the channel's overall stats, and that is normal.
- Once all conditions are met, the invitation usually arrives within a day or two: an email and a notification in the dashboard.
After the invitation, you need to accept the Affiliate agreement, enable two-factor authentication, fill out the tax form and choose a payout method. Until this is done, monetization will not turn on.
What Affiliate status gives you in 2026
In February 2025, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy promised to open subscriptions and Bits to most streamers from day one. On May 13, 2026, Twitch began a global rollout: channels that comply with the rules can enable subscriptions, Bits, emotes, badges and Channel Points in the Creator Dashboard even without Affiliate status. The rollout took about a week.
The main limitation: only Affiliates and Partners can receive a payout, with a minimum of 50 dollars. Everyone else accumulates a balance. The Spendable Balance feature, which lets you spend that balance on Bits and gift subs, currently works only for streamers in the US, and Twitch promised a global launch by the end of 2026.
| Feature | Without status | Affiliate |
|---|---|---|
| Subscriptions, Bits, emotes, Channel Points | yes, after the May 2026 launch | yes |
| Cashing out | no | yes, from 50 dollars |
| Ad revenue | no | yes |
| Plus program (higher share of subscriptions) | no | yes |
For more on how paid subscriptions and tiers work, see our article about subs on Twitch.
About the subscription share. Since 2024, the Plus program has been open to Affiliates too: if you hold 100 Plus points for three months in a row, your share of subscriptions becomes 60/40 in the streamer's favor, and at 300 points it is 70/30. A Tier 1 sub gives 1 point, Tier 2 gives 2, Tier 3 gives 6. For a small channel this is a distant goal, but it is useful to know about.
Twitch Affiliate vs Partner: what is the difference
Partnership is the next step. It is not sent automatically: once the Path to Partner conditions are met, an application button appears in the same Achievements section, and applications are reviewed manually.
| Parameter | Affiliate | Partner |
|---|---|---|
| Hours over 30 days | 4 | 25 |
| Different days over 30 days | 4 | 12 |
| Viewers | an average of 3 on at least 4 days | an average of 75 over 30 days |
| How to get it | automatic invitation | application and manual review |
Since October 2024, viewers who came from raids count toward the average viewer number for Partnership. Meeting the numbers is not enough: Twitch looks at community activity and rule compliance, so a rejection is possible even when the conditions are met.
What Partnership gives on top of Affiliate status: a verified channel badge, more emote slots and dedicated support from the partner team. Partners can take part in the ad incentive program: with 3 or more minutes of ads per hour, the ad revenue share is 55%.
Cashing out from Russia: where things stand
In early March 2022, Twitch suspended payouts to Russian bank accounts because of US sanctions. Streamers were asked to specify another way of receiving money. As of late October 2026 there is no official announcement that payouts to Russia have resumed. According to media reports from 2025, the monetization program for Russian streamers on Twitch is disabled, and the main income of large Russian creators is direct advertising integrations.
Twitch has not said separately whether the May 2026 launch of “monetization for all” applies to Russian channels. The Monetization section of the Creator Dashboard will give the exact answer for your channel: if subscriptions and Bits are unavailable, the buttons will be inactive. For details on how the situation has changed, see our article on the blocking of Twitch monetization for Russians.
If you live in another CIS country, the available payout methods depend on your country of residence and your bank. The list of methods is shown in the payout settings when you sign up as an Affiliate.
Tax form
Twitch is an American company, so you have to complete the tax interview when setting up your status. For residents of other countries (not the US), it generates a W-8BEN form. Without the form, Twitch may withhold up to 30% of payouts. If there is a double taxation treaty between your country and the US, the rate may be lower. Enter your real country and address of residence: the data must match your documents and payment details, otherwise payouts will be blocked.
A 30-day plan: how to meet the requirements
- Days 1-3: preparation. Set up your channel: avatar, banner, description, panels under the player. Configure OBS and check your audio: a viewer will leave over bad sound faster than over a weak picture. Do a test stream of 20-30 minutes.
- Days 4-30: schedule. Stream 3-4 times a week on the same days and at the same times, for 2-3 hours. That way you will cover 4 hours and 4 days within the first week, and viewers will get into the habit of dropping in at a certain time. Put your schedule in your Twitch profile.
- Category. Do not start with the most popular games, where you will land in 3000th place. Pick a game or category with 20-100 streams: there a new channel is visible in the list. Fresh releases, niche indie games and the Just Chatting category during hours when big streamers are offline work well.
- Raids and networking. Visit streamers at your level, chat with them, and at the end of your own stream raid them. Mutual raids are the most honest way to get your first viewers who stay.
- Clips. From each stream, cut 2-3 short moments and post them to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, VK Clips and Telegram with a link to your channel and the time of your next stream. This brings new followers, and viewers along with them.
- Chatting. Keep viewers engaged by talking: answer messages, ask questions, run polls. Average viewership grows thanks to those who stay until the end.
- Weekly check. Once a week, look at Path to Affiliate in Achievements. If only viewers are missing, shorten your streams and shift the time to when viewership was higher.

If you need a push at the start, Stream Promotion helps with the first numbers: you can order Twitch followers, connect viewers through the control panel and liven up the chat with chat bots. No one can guarantee Affiliate status: Twitch decides for itself whether to count activity, and it takes the real conditions of the broadcast into account. Use promotion as a supplement to regular streams and live interaction, not as a replacement for them.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to apply to become a Twitch Affiliate?
No. Once all four conditions are met, Twitch itself sends an invitation by email and in the Creator Dashboard. After that you need to accept the agreement, enable two-factor authentication, fill out the tax form and choose a payout method.
How many followers do I need for Affiliate in 2026?
25. Previously 50 were required, but in summer 2025 the threshold was lowered along with the hours and days of streaming.
Can I get subscriptions and Bits without Affiliate status?
Since May 13, 2026, Twitch has been opening subscriptions, Bits, emotes and Channel Points worldwide to channels that comply with the rules. But only Affiliates and Partners can cash out, with a balance of 50 dollars or more.
Why did my progress in Achievements roll back?
Hours, days and viewers are counted over the last 30 days. If you took a break, old streams dropped out of the window. This does not affect followers: they are counted by the total number.
Can Russians withdraw money from Twitch?
Since March 2022, payouts to Russian bank accounts have been suspended because of sanctions, and there are no official reports of them resuming. The current status for your channel is shown in the Monetization section of the Creator Dashboard.
How many viewers do I need for Partnership?
An average of 75 concurrent viewers over 30 days, plus 25 hours of streaming and 12 different days. After that you submit an application, and Twitch reviews it manually.
